Busy (Ham)Bees

We've had yet another very eventful weekend, and it's not even over yet! Last night we had some neighbors over for a spaghetti dinner, in part to "carbo-load" for the Race for the Cure, but mainly just to visit and play cards! This morning we were up bright and early so I could race (I use that term veeeeery loosely) in my second Race for the Cure. My neighbor and good friend Chastity ran with me, her first race, and did great! We didn't come close to winning, but that wasn't our objective. We finished it without stopping to walk and felt great at the end! I really like 5k's - they're about half as long and half as hard as 10k's - ha!

After the race, we went to Preston's football game. He did a good job and we really enjoyed the great weather - his game last week was called-off due to rain. After the game we went to pick up some grass seed for our back yard. Next weekend we'll be seeding the back with help from our friend Todd. We'll sod (i.e. insta-yard) the front and sides. After the "grass store," we picked up the first of our shrubs and spent the afternoon planting them. There's more of that in store for tomorrow, with a couple breaks for church and a wedding shower for my cousin Casey. We'll get to rest a week from. . . NEVER!! :)

(well, mainly me, she never looks disheveled!)

Miss Vocabulary

Breckyn is now officially 2 1/2 years old. My how the time flies! We are often amused by her vocabulary and especially her flair for drama. She has recently discovered the word "actually" and uses it quite frequently and in the right context. Yesterday I heard, "I want skittles for my potty treat. No, Mom, ak-sully I want smarties." She always seems to be growing up a little too fast for my liking, but I caught her in this adorable asleep-on-the-couch-with-thumb-in-mouth pose and thought - awwwww, my sweet little baby!!!

Field Trip to the Zoo

This past Friday the girls and I accompanied Preston's 1st grade class on a field trip to the Zoo. We started the day by visiting the new Penguin exhibit and exploring the rest of the Zoo for awhile, then met the rest of the class for a cool show in the brand new Cargill Learning Center. We go to the Zoo a lot and never get tired of it. I love our Zoo and think it gets better every year. The kids had a great time, as usual! Unfortunately, I didn't get many good pics, but here are a few:

Chuck E Cheese!

We spent this evening enjoying our newly renovated Chuck E. Cheese. We all had a great time eating pizza, riding the kiddie rides, and playing video games!

Beautiful Weather

The weather has been absolutely GORGEOUS this week with temps in the upper 70's and low 80's. It goes without saying that a trip to our neighborhood park was in order!

Fun Weekend!

We're just finishing up a full and fun weekend! Friday after Preston got off the bus, we picked up Daddy and went to visit Nana and Papa. We had a blast playing baseball, swinging, building a few castles, and eating pizza with them!

Saturday was Preston's first flag football game and he did great! He pulled off one flag and is starting to get a little more aggressive on the field. We spent a lot of the day playing with the neighborhood kids.

Today after Church we went to Gram and Grandad's for a delicious Sunday dinner followed by lots of playing in the backyard as it was absolutely BEAUTIFUL at about 78 degrees. This evening we did some swinging in our own backyard and went fishing in the neighborhood pond. One big bass even snapped Daddy's line!

We'd like to wish a HAPPY GRANDPARENTS' DAY to all the wonderful grandparents in our lives. We love you all very much!!!

"I Need a Ba-Daid!!"

Breckyn somehow scratched her nose and INSISTED that it needed a "ba-daid." Thought it made for a cute pic, especially with her eyes crossed!

Labor Day Weekend and OU Game!

We had a great Labor Day weekend and attended our first college football game! We got up early Saturday to drop the munchkins off at Aunt Jan's house (thank you sooooooo much, Aunt J!!) before heading to OKC, Oklahoma to meet our really good friends Christal and Mitch. We shopped a little before heading to Norman to wander the campus (somewhat aimlessly, Mitch) til the game started. It ended up being a complete blow-out with OU crushing U of North Texas 79-10, which we missed because we left halfway thru the 3rd quarter. We then went out for a late dinner and some very bad billiard-playing before calling it a night at the local Travelodge. We had a lovely breakfast the next morning before parting ways to head home to our respective kiddos. Our munchkins had had a blast with Aunt J, eating dinner at McD's before riding the train (twice!) and the kiddie rides at her local park. They're already ready to go back - I think the "chocolate cake for breakfast" thing sealed the deal!

After picking up the kids we headed to Aunt Tammy's house for a family BBQ. The kids had a blast playing in the pool with my cousins' kids and Paul had a blast hunting for doves with my cousins' husbands (needless to say, VERY few doves were harmed for the making of this post).

Monday was spent working in the yard with a late-afternoon break to play cards and eat pizza with our neighbors.

Unfortunately, out of all this excitement I only got pics of the OU game, so here they are:
